Dear EMTS students and faculty,

I came across the following article about scene safety and wanted to remind everyone of the dangers of chemical suicide.

Chemical suicides are threat to responders

There have been several calls in the Austin, Travis County and Williamson County area involving hydrogen sulfide. Potentials rescuers need to be alert and understand that inhalation can cause death after only 1-2 inhalations. Many of the cases involve unconscious patients in a locked car with or without warnings to first responders taped to the window.
